A referral code doesn’t end with the new customer’s discount.
The new customer discount and the referrer reward remain two separate decisions. MapMyStaff checks the code conditions before applying an eligible discount, then lets you track the referrer reward and its status separately.
Two distinct benefits, each with its own rules and statuses.
Two people, two distinct benefits.
The new customer can receive a booking discount when the program conditions are met. The referrer reward is tracked separately in a referral record with its own status.
When a referral code is used, the system looks up the matching referrer. At closing, the conversion can be recognized and the referral record starts pending; reward payment remains a separate state.
The animation restarts automatically to show entry, server-side validation, and application of the discount.
The code alone is not enough: conditions are checked before the discount.
When a code is used, MapMyStaff checks that it matches a referrer and blocks self-referrals. Configured rules also govern whether the program is active, its validity, and its limits.
The new customer discount should change the total only when the applicable conditions are met. The referrer reward remains a separate decision.

After closing, the referrer reward follows its own status.
The referral starts with a pending status. Reward payment is a separate state: the record can later be paid, rejected, or expired according to the program rules and authorized actions.
Pending rows can, depending on the program workflow, expose a manual validation action. Supervision also distinguishes rewards already paid from rewards still promised.

Define who receives what, when, and up to what limit.
Configuration lets you enable or disable the program, choose percentage or fixed amount, then define the referrer credit and new customer discount separately.
An annual cap, start date, end date, and exclusion periods let you frame the program. Disabling it does not delete its configuration.

Put attributed revenue alongside the program costs.
The cockpit brings together referral-attributed revenue, average acquisition revenue, new customers, conversions, and reward costs. It separates cost already paid from cost still promised.
The view can be followed over time and by referrer. Acquisition revenue is limited to the referred new customer’s first appointment; future lifetime value is not included in this immediate reading.
Profitability at acquisition
Compare first-appointment revenue with paid and promised costs.

Frequently asked questions
The detailed methodology remains accessible when the team needs to verify a formula, status, or calculation basis.
What is the difference between the referee’s discount and the referrer’s reward?
The referee’s discount reduces the booking total after code validation. The referrer’s reward is tracked in a separate record and has its own status; applying one does not mean the other has already been paid.
When does the referrer’s reward become paid?
The conversion is recognized when the appointment closes, and the record normally begins as pending. The transition to paid then depends on program rules and, for applicable cases, manual validation by an authorized person.
Why distinguish rewards paid from rewards promised?
A paid reward is a cost already incurred. A promised or pending reward is a potential cost. Reading them separately avoids underestimating the program’s future cost and helps track each referrer’s annual cap.
What does revenue attributed to referrals measure?
The immediate reading is based on revenue from the first appointment attributed to the referred new customer. It must not be confused with customer lifetime value. Definitions of paid CAC, promised CAC, and conversions are specified in the methodology.
